WHAT WE DO

Rooflines in Central Scotland

As leading providers of roof repairs across Cental Scotland, we know a thing or two about damaged roofs. Here are some of the more common roof repairs that we deal with on a regular basis…

Missing, slipped and cracked tiles

A new roof installation is not something you leap into headfirst. At The Roofing Bureau we create a detailed plan of action. We need to produce essential calculations to determine the weight of the roof and ensure the underlying timbers will hold it. Only then can we order the relevant slates, flashing, lining, and more to complete the job.

Cracked and missing leadwork

At The Roofing Bureau, nothing is more important to us than the safety of our team and our customers. We erect a safe and secure scaffolding arrangement for every new roof we install. This is carefully prepared to minimise accidents. All our scaffolding is clearly highlighted and signposted so there is no chance of passers-by bumping into it.

Loft-space condensation

Using the timbers as a framework, we install waterproof barrier of breathable felt. It acts as secondary layer of protection, underpinning the tiles that we will lay later. At this stage, the roof is effectively waterproof. We install tile battens, which act as guide rows for our next step: fitting the roofing tiles and slates.

Blocked guttering and drainage

Our first piece of physical labour when fitting a new roof is getting rid of the old one. We strip it down layer by layer, putting the materials to one side in case they can be reused or recycled. When we are down to the timbers and the laths, we check them for damp or deterioration, replacing them if needed.

Storm and weather damage

A pitched roof without any tiles or slates is not going to last very long. Using the battens we have already installed, our professional roofers layer the tiles across, interlacing them to get a tight fit. We use only the best tiles and slates, sourced from local suppliers whom we trust to deliver quality.

Experienced roof repairers

With the roofing tiles in place, all that remains is to seal off the edges and joins in the roof. This is accomplished using roofer’s lead – also known as lead flashing. This malleable and waterproof material allows us to form watertight seals at all vulnerable joints. This includes where the roof meets chimney stacks, walls, skylights, and more.
