WHAT WE DO
Rooflines in Central Scotland
As the leading provider of new roofs installations across Cental Scotland, we have much to offer our customers. Here is what you can expect from us…
Tiles or slates?
The terms ‘tiles’ and ‘slates’ are often used interchangeably, but there are differences between the two materials. Tiles are manufactured products, normally cast in ceramics (heated clay). Slates, meanwhile, are produced from natural stone (although not always slate, oddly enough). Both products have similar properties, being non-porous and waterproof materials. The choice is down to personal preference.
Plain roofing tiles
These are a common sight on roofs across the UK. As the name suggests, they are simple, plain tiles that can be layered in almost any configuration. This gives them great versatility, making them an ideal choice for oddly-shaped roofs. You can get plain roofing tiles with a smooth finish or a coarser, granular finish, depending on your preference.
Interlocking roofing tiles
Interlocking ceramic tiles serve the same purpose as their plain counterparts. The main difference between the two is the precision of the join. With interlocking tiles you are assured a perfect finish on any tiling job. What is more, there is a wider variety of shapes, finishes, and colours than you find with plain roofing tiles.
Natural roofing slates
Natural slates (sometimes called traditional slates) are, essentially, roofing tiles cut directly out of rock. These slates are then shaped and finished to achieve that uniform look. Roofing slates give any property a rustic look that is not always attainable with ceramic tiles. Because of variations in the stones themselves, there are many attractive finishes available.
Tile repair & replacement
As well as full roof installations and replacement tiling projects, AM Roofing also handles cracked and missing tiles and slates. First, we examine the extent and cause of the damage, before seeing if it has spread to the surrounding tiles. Once we have removed any damaged tiling, we replace it with as close a match as we can find.
Flat roof tiles
A pitched roof without any tiles or slates is not going to last very long. Using the battens we have already installed, our professional roofers layer the tiles across, interlacing them to get a tight fit. We use only the best tiles and slates, sourced from local suppliers whom we trust to deliver quality.
